One of the most important aspects our firm can provide is in the operation and training for publicly or privately owned treatment facilities. Our design experience will aid in process operations and evaluations of effluent and finished water from these facilities. We can provide the technical support and training to ensure potability for the drinking waters within these systems. It is our goal to provide the technical training necessary to allow local operators to eventually run their facilities safely and reliably.
All public water systems in Maine require a licensed operator to oversee the activities of the water system and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Many smaller systems do not have a licensed operator and A.E. Hodsdon has six (6) licensed water system operators to provide this service. Sometimes, it is provided on an interim basis until someone local can be trained and obtain a license. Other commitments are long term. We complete water quality testing, water quality monitoring, file annual reports and act as a liaison between the system owner and regulatory agency.
Sewer systems also require a licensed operator or professional engineer in responsible charge of operation. Treatment plants are required to perform rigorous testing of influent and effluent and maintain a consistently high quality of effluent. Albert Hodsdon is a Grade 4 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator with experience in many types of wastewater treatment including activated sludge processes, aerated lagoons, stabilization ponds, sand filtration and spray irrigation.
